Moments Inked 2015 Memory Planner

It’s no secret that I love planners.  So, when I found out that one of my favorite stamp companies, Papertrey Ink, had a new planner come out in February, I decided to try it.  I mean, if I loved it, I could give away my Plum Paper Planner, and if I didn’t, I could give away this planner.

Well, I do love the planner.  I really think it’s a fabulous design.  I love the features it offers–particularly daily pages.  I love that they made a huge coil so you could easily insert things.  AND… Papertrey Ink has created a series of stamps and dies to make using it a BREEZE.

So, I’m going to give my .02 on this thing and then explain why I’m not keeping it.

Pros:

1.  It’s small but not TOO small. I found that I had room to write EVERYTHING I wanted or needed to.  I do not have small penmanship, so this is significant.

2.  The paper is FABULOUS.  It’s a linen texture that just really grips.  I used my fountain pen and stamp markers with almost NO shadowing and zero bleeding. You have to LOOK to see the shadow in most lights.

3.  The colors are bright, fresh, interesting, without being too cliche.

4.  This planner covers it ALL.  It has a monthly view, a weekly view, and then it has daily pages for recording the important moments in your life.  There are gratitude lines, important things to remember to plan for (Something I didn’t utilize well but if I was going to keep this, now I know how I’d use them better), a memorable moment, hydration, menus, the works.  This thing is WELL designed.

Cons:

1.  A lot of people don’t like the giant coil. They find it too big and too flimsy.  I love the size (makes inserting stuff great) and the coil itself I am ambivalent about.  I don’t think it’s fabulously strong OR flimsy.  It’s just a coil.

2.  The back.  While the front uses a laminated “interchangeable cover”, the black is just really nice heavy-duty black chipboard.  I am not impressed.  This sucker is begging for me to set it in some water somewhere and ruin the back.  (I’m fixing this for you in this giveaway)

3. I really don’t think there are enough note pages at the back.  It has fewer than any other planner I’ve ever bought AND since they’re smaller, you have less room to use them.

To REALLY see how fabulous this planner is, please check out their BLOG POST.

Okay… why I’m not keeping it.  It’s really all down to why I bought it!  I loved the idea of the daily pages.  I really liked the idea of having something to focus on and to keep track of things.  Alas, I don’t like USING it.  I find planning daily (because that’s what it works out to be) to be cumbersome and an inefficient use of my time.  If I were a journaler or whatever, I’d LOVE this thing even more.  I made myself use it this week, and while I loved so many things about it, I missed my Plum Paper.  (And I REALLY miss my ECLP)

So this is how this giveaway works.  I’m giving away this planner with March-December in it. (I used the other months to play with so it’d be clean).  I’m also designing the winner a cover with her name on it!  That’s right!  You’ll get front and back 10mm laminated snap on covers with almost anything you want on them!  I will also probably add a few planner goodies.  I also recommend that you consider purchasing some of their fabulous stamp sets, but alas, ONLY the planner, the cover shown above, and new covers are included in this giveaway (I’m using their stamps in my current planner!  WOOT)

To enter, simply post your name and tell me which planner you have loved most OR which one you THINK you’d love most.  If you share this giveaway on ANY social media or email it to someone, please post ANOTHER comment for each one you do.  I’ll draw Sunday night and try to mail on Monday.  🙂

I will likely give away a couple of De-cluttering Junkies as follow up prizes. Because that’s how I roll.  So… let’s get our planner on, gals!

I love my personal Filofax Domino! I do make the pages myself, and I love the ease with which I can change stuff out. However… something pre-made like this would be really handy!

  • Lindsay

    I pinned this post! 🙂

This planner looks great. I’ve been using the Passion Planner.

  • Gail

I love them both, but I think I like the Plum Paper one best!

  • Elane

I’m thinking the big coil will let me insert my coupons & grocery lists – and keep me “in check” – I know, like that’s gonna happen ! ! ! !

  • i was torn between this and Erin Condren. Neither is in our budget since we just moved and I would enjoy giving this one a whirl! I just started making myself a daily page, so this intrigues me 🙂

  • Emailed to three friends who are also planners like me 🙂

  • I only have one – the ECLP – but I am sure I have a good use for this one, too!

  • Jane

I don’t own either. I have bought different planners and I have not found the one that works for me. I just need a monthly planner with a budget planner included. small enough to carry with me but big enough to read and write in. The ones I have purchased in the past have alot of unnecessary things included and that makes them to thick. I wish I could make one with just what I need and be afforable!!! 🙂

  • Jeniver

I really like both planners. I haven’t found one that works for me yet. Still looking. Would love to try this one. Looks neat!

Chautona, Thank you for the giveaway. I, too, love PTI products (I actually just got another order today!!) and had a couple friends jump at this last month. We have a coil binder at work because a lot of our submissions are bound that way, so I am too familiar with the coils – I have had too many sweaters snagged by the ends of coils, so I wanted something with a covered binding, preferably with notebook rings so I could replace the interior pages each year without getting a new binder. I found the Webster’s Pages Color Crush Planners. I should be receiving mine next week (it has been on pre-order), and I can’t wait. They are in beautiful colors and a teal and white stripe, have gorgeous divider tabs, an optional matching folio to hold pens, washi tape, etc. It has the same 6-rings as a Filofax, but at a fraction of the cost. I do not receive anything for this endorsement; just someone excited to get that new brand of planner! (sorry this is so long!)

Have you seen the new Michaels “Recollections” brand planners. Seriously, if we lived close, I’d be buying one or two and trying it out.

  • Karin

I don’t have a planner and I R.E.A.L.L.Y. need one! I am de-cluttering a friend’s home (she passed away and I am administering her estate), and it is quite a challenge to balance that with work and my church activities, etc. Thank you for the great and straightforward review on this one!

  • I desperately want an Unplanner/calendar. This At A Glance one I’m stuck with looks nice and that’s about all. But, you already know that, lol 😉 I could live with the one you’re giving away ~halo~

  • Heather Y

I currently use a planner I made myself as I couldn’t find one that met all my needs but these sure look pretty! I don’t know that I’m partial to either one but if they can keep my family organized then I’ll be happy!

  • Heather S

I just came from the corporate world, in which everything is scheduled in 1/2 hour increments. I’d take my printed calendar and integrate my to do list every evening. So I’d love something with the daily pages. Not just making lists but committing to specific times gets my task list out off the page and onto my feet. I also take copious notes and need the daily space. I’ve been using Franklin Covey, but it’s a little too staid and predictable.

  • Joanne Hios

I use the Franklin Covey daily planner, one page per day.

I looked at all 3. I have decided that the ECLP would be my 1st choice. I like the design and words of encouragement though out. I did like that plum paper allowed you options for how the week looked but I enjoyed the inspiration more.

  • Julie Dobson

Shared on Facebook. I did forget to say I do like the daily pages on papertry as I am growing as a wellness advocate for Doterra and this would allow me to have personal and business planner all together.

  • Virginia McGuire

I have never actually used a planner. 🙁 I just have scraps of paper that I lose. A planner would be very helpful.

  • I have loved the ECLP, but I am LOVING the looks of this!! I used a daily planner for years (from the time I was about 14 until my late 30s) and I’m missing that format. This one looks fabulous!!

  • Just shared on Facebook! 🙂

I use a Day Planner-month at a glance…& I am LOST w/out my planner–I found a Covey planner @ a garage sale for a couple of bucks & used the pages in it, but not all of the tabs! Thanks for a nice Giveaway!

  • Lois

I loved the Erin Condren planner you gave away, but I may like this one even more. It is simple, yet the daily pages pack a lot. I especially like the top three tasks area and the place to note what we need to prepare for our day. I’m preparing to start a new diet soon, and the place to record food and fitness notes is just rightt. And we could all benefit from writing down 3 things we are thankful for each day.. What are the dimensions of the pages? Planner looks about perfect and your pros indicate there is plenty of room to write. I like it!

I love having my life planned. i really need to scheduled me time in my daily life and my monthly time.
Also I need to put in regular time to contact members of my family who live so far away.

  • April Hayman

I have only had the PPFP but I really like it. I wish the pages were thicker though.

  • Ava

I use a Mead planner from Target, but the Papertrey Ink looks amazing. I actually scrolled through your FB feed the other day to find the link for it so I could look at it again.

I do not have a paper planner… so I need one. I have been using a digital one, but really miss the personal touch of a paper planner

  • Emily G

The only planner I’ve used is the Well Planned Day planner from Hedua. It’s a homeschool planner, and I do like it. I don’t use it as often as I’d like… but the idea is a good one. I’m just not as organized as I’d like to be. 🙂

The only planners I’ve ever used have been whatever was cheap at Walmart. The ones you’ve reviewed, though, look amazing! I was actually thinking last week that I need to get a nice planner to try to help organize my life… 🙂

I’ve been using the same academic year planner for 30 years from Payne Publishers. This yeAr I tried one from a homeschool group, but in Janyary I went back to Payne because the colors in the new one were pale pastel with white writing and too hard to read. I’ve looked at Erin Condron and hers are beautiful, but my problem with hers is the same as I have with Plum Paper (and a thing I difn’t like about Payne) – the weekly pages begin with Monday! It looks like Papertrey begins on Sunday. This might be the answer I’ve been looking for!

  • Emily G

    I also tweeted it. 🙂

  • This planner looks interesting. I am really enjoying one by Christian Art Gifts that my husband gave me for Christmas. It has a sturdy zippered cover, so the pages don’t get wadded up when I shove it in my tote. 🙂

  • Betty Landesman

I have never used a planner. I have been wanting to get started. I have followed a friend on Sodbusters “snicker :)” I know you know her. I love how she shares her planner and I have been wanting to get started with my own. Thanks for the many things you share with your fans. May God bless you. 🙂

I would love the one customized by you, especially since I don’t have one currently…..

Thanks for the give away….. I really like the look of the PTI planner…… But the huge black coil kept me from buying it…. I would love a chance to try the PTI planner out!

Right now the only planner that I have had is an EC Life Planner. I have considered a Plum Paper Family Planner, but honestly I keep getting drawn to the Memory Planner because it just looks so pretty…so I guess I don’t really have a favorite yet.

I have mostly lived by having a family calendar in the kitchen to write appts. and places everyone (6 of us) needed to be. I have been thinking on a planner and whether I’d use it – would love to especially have it for all the lists I make and can’t find. I think I would love to try this! I am also going to forward this link to my daughter in college who is trying to keep up with classes, meal planning in her apt., and teaching piano. You have such a giving heart!

Sent an email with link to several.

I have been using one from The Confident Mom website this year. In the past, I made my own. Computer crashed and I lost it all. Ugh! So back to trying to find one I like.

I currently use a Seasons Planner Pad. I like it, but am interested in the Moments Inked daily pages. I’d love to win this giveaway!

I have a general planner like you would get at Staples. But I have been intrigued by each one you have talked about. Probably the ECLP the most.
